Hp Universal Printer Driver Unsupported Protocol

Hp Universal Printer Driver Unsupported Protocol

PCL6 UPD version 4.5 for Vista 64 appears absolutely incompatible with an HP LaserJet 8000dn printer. It generates an PCL XL error - UnsupportedProtocol even when sending a test page to the printer. Cables don't appear to be the problem. I've swapped them out to no avail. The previous PCL6 driver UPD 4.0 for Vista 64 appears the most recent version from Hewlett Packard that will communicate with the 8000dn, although it can be extremely slow to print certain pages containing simple graphics.

This is a very old printer and has difficulty with pcl 6. I would advice trying the postscript driver which usually works better. PCL XL errors only occur when using the pcl 6 driver. And perhaps there is some configuration setting somewhere to tell the UPD driver which C/R to generate - I would.

AFAICT, the recent 4.5 universal print drivers for Vista 64 that HP released for the 8000dn appear to work fine. It's only the 4.5 version PCL6 driver for Vista 64 that is not working at all as advertised, at least for me. It's 2008 April Fools release date did not bode well. For now I've reverted to the previous 4.0 PCL6 release.

Any thoughts about whether HP's newer version can actually be made to work with Vista 64 and their venerable old 8000 LaserJet family? Vs Php 2.5 Crack. I'd guess the same problem may be affecting the 5000 Laserjet series, possibly the 8100 and 5100 series as well. Thanks for your time and assistance, Chris. Much appreciated.

Yes, I did notice 'Microsoft' lurking in the headers. I had initially attributed that as originating from a document printed from MS word (saved down in 97-2003 format). It appears that the HP universal print driver relies on files from Microsoft as well as from HP. Judging from this article I saw on the Microsoft Developer site, Microsoft must be partnering with HP (and presumably others) in the development of PCL 6 universal print drivers.

It makes sense to me that they would be doing that, since print drivers don't operate in a software and hardware vacuum. But it opens up the possibility that I might be seeing some kind of.dll hell issue here. Still, it only seems to affect the new PCL6 4.5 universal driver. In case you or someone else in the forums get the chance to poke around with this a bit more, I've gone ahead and made new.prn files that might be quicker to decipher. They are both printed from a file that simply contain the words 'Test document.' I'm also attaching the results of a filecomp between the two.prn files.

In that comparison, the two files are named 800021.prn (for the non-printing PCL 6.0 rev 2.1) and 800020.prn (for the printable PCL 6.0 rev 2.0) version. I can't find any mention anywhere of what PCL 6.0 version the 8000dn supports, either in my own documentation, or online. I did uncover a nice review of PCL and it's various releases in general at Wikipedia. Unfortunately at this time, the article doesn't include dates for the individual PCL 6.0 revisions. Hp Compaq 8100 Elite Motherboard Manual.

But I'd guess from the date of purchase (and other stuff I found) that my 8000dn predates the 2.1 Protocol class/revision. I do know my printer is up to date in terms of its firmware, but I realize that does not necessarily mean it supports PCL 6.0 rev 2.1.

On a quick side note, I don't believe I've ever gotten around to installing winzip or another zipping utility on this Vista 64 box. So you may be on the right track in thinking that the previous installation of winzip may be at play in your inability to read them back ungarbled. Looks like I can only attach 1 file at a time here. How To Decode Php Files That Encoded By Zend Encoder Job more. Here's the results of the file comparison first. Li Odd about the.ZIP files - I can't open the retrieved files, either on the original Vista machine, or on a (totally) separate WinXP machine!
